on Texas Instruments by Jim Donetelli, Regional TI ETC
Description:
Jim is the new ETC for our region. He will give us a brief update on TI and the products available to math and science teachers. In addition, he will share with us opportunities available to districts and schools from TI. Audrey Coats, a specialist on the TI-Nspire hand-held will do a short demonstration on its use within the mathematics class and how it has been received by her students. All those in attendance will receive the following (If pre-registered by December 1st.)
1) Packet of TI information and resources
2) TI-SmartView software trial CD
3) TI-Nspire computer software trial CD
4) TI Classroom Activities CD
5) Special offer of a choice of TI products FOR EVERY TEACHER IN THE MATH DEPARTMENT (to be announced at the meeting) in exchange for an email or letter from the school's Math Department Head listing the names of math teachers who currently recommend or require a TI graphing calculator in one or more of the courses they teach along with a copy of the teacher's Syllabus or Class Guidelines document documenting the recommendation or requirement. The documentation could also be in the form of a letter/email sent home to parents or a statement in the school's Program of Studies.

Workshop #2: SMARTBOARD in the Math Classroom
Presenter: Audrey Coats
Description: Come see what’s new with Smartboards in the secondary math classroom. We will use Notebook 10.0 and show several sample lessons. Examples will include links to other mathematical software like Geometer’s Sketchpad, Autograph and TI-Smartview within Smartboard lessons.
Workshop #3: Autograph in the Mathematics
Classroom
Presenter: Steve Smith
Description: This hands-on workshop will lead you through the basic operation of this powerful graphing utility for your mathematics classroom. Explorations, projects and classroom suggestions will be discussed.
Workshop #4: Math Supervisors Meeting
Presenter: Jim Kearns and Jim Donetelli
Description: This workshop will be more of a discussion group on topics ranging from professional development needs, MCAS Analysis, AP and SAT preparation material, to technology innovations in the mathematics classroom. Discussion will also include the topic of restarting the North Shore Math Supervisors organization.
