Description:
The Salem State Collaborative is expanding its successful Middle School Program for At-Risk Students to the High School level. This program is offered as two full-day workshops targeted for classroom teachers, special education teachers and aides who work with at-risk high school students in grades 9 and 10. The focus of each workshop will be to review specific math strands, analyze MCAS test items that assess those strands, and to discuss instructional strategies and support material that are appropriate for these concepts. Time will be spent on instruction in the use of TI technology as it is a tool that can greatly benefit at-risk students and their performance on the MCAS Exam. Additionally, materials developed by the collaborative will be made available to participants.
